Getter Robo launches a Kickstarter Campaign to fund the production of a proof-of-concept trailer which focuses on developing advanced visual effect techniques to showcase the possibility of what to expect from the live-action film which is scheduled to be released in 2025.
The Kickstarter campaign will run for three weeks until May 1st, 2023 (PST) and will include different rewards based on the tiers which includes exclusive online access to the proof-of-concept trailer prior to the general release, access to the Making of Getter Robo documentary, and inclusion of the supporters’ names in the end credits.
Getter Robo is celebrating its 50th anniversary this 2025 and will be getting a live-action film which is scheduled for release in Spring 2025.
The film will be written produced and directed by Junya Okabe while Yasuo Ohtagaki and Yoshiaki Tabata join the screenplay team.
The live-action Getter Robo film is said to be action-packed and will be set in a modern, gritty and violent world. It is important to note that design, story direction and staff may change in the course of the trailer/short film production as necessary.
Getter Robo is based on the original manga series by Go Nagai and Ken Ishikawa, and tells the story of giant robots and is credited with introducing the “combining forces” element to the genre which had three vehicles coming together to form one giant robot.
