The February Nintendo Direct has revealed that GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon has had a stealthy release on to the Switch.
Here’s the game’s trailer presented at the Nintendo Direct:
GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon is a reboot of an older Konami platformer released in Japan for the Famicom (NES). The original game is often described as classic Castlevania but with Samurai, swapping the gothic movie monster aesthetic in favor of Japanese Yokai.
If you’ve played as Zengetsu in the Castlevania spiritual successor Bloodstained: Curse of The Moon, his playstyle in that game is modeled on Fuma.
This new game will be a hack ‘n slash title with roguelite elements. The game also has beautiful art inspired by traditional Japanese Ukyo-e paintings.
The game is priced at $24.99 USD on the American Nintendo Eshop store. It is also available in both a standard and deluxe edition. The deluxe edition costs $34.99 and includes the original Famicom GetsuFumaDen. It should be noted that the Famicom game is still in Japanese with the exception of the main menu. The deluxe edition also includes a soundtrack with 15 songs and a digital artbook.
Undying Moon was originally announced for both Switch and PC, with the game going to early access for the PC in May of 2021.
