miHoYo has revealed their content roadmap for Genshin Impact, stating that they plan for all the game’s 7 main regions to be out by 2025.
At a GDC talk, miHoYo’s CEO Cai Haoyu explained that the company “would like to have all seven regions of Teyvat released by the next four years”.
When you consider the amount of content that launched with the new zone, Inazuma, it’s safe to treat each zone more like what MMOs would describe as an expansion. It’s not too crazy, therefore, to imagine the company would plan to release one new zone a year if it was going to hit that 2025 goal.
All The Genshin Impact Regions
It’s not like we’re entirely in the dark, either. After Genshin Impact launched, miHoYo released a teaser for the Teyvat Chapter featuring short previews of Teyvat’s 7 regions. Here they are, in order:
- Monstadt
- Liyue Harbor
- Inazuma
- Sumeru
- Fontaine
- Natlan
- Sznezhnaya
What Comes Next?
No one knows what’s going to come next for Genshin Impact after all the regions are unlocked. Considering how easily miHoYo added a new area to Monstadt (Dragonspine), it’s not hard to believe the developers could easily get by with new mini-zones instead of full-out new continents.
That being said, considering the name Teyvat Chapter, it’s also not outside the realm of possibility we could be getting new worlds altogether. Honkai Impact 3rd, miHoYo’s other title, has also enjoyed plenty of alternate-reality jaunts with their various updates, so should the Genshin community still be as strong in 4 years it wouldn’t be surprising if that was where Genshin was headed, too.
