Genshin Impact has revealed more details on the game’s upcoming PS5 version, which is due for release 28th April.
In a Developer trailer for the game, miHoYo explained the work that would go into the next-gen version of the game, focusing on better optimization as well as improved visual quality.
One of the ways they did this was with an improved visual library. What this means is that the team are reworking the textures, allowing for more detailed objects in the world such as the various weapons, and even fabrics in the game when running on the PS5 versus the PS4 version. This also means better 4K and HDR support, really giving the game a chance to shine.
Of course, one problem with upscaled textures is that they often put an increased strain on the machine running them, leading to longer loading times., However, with the PS5’s SSD, miHoYo aims to make sure the PS5 version of Genshin Impact will load better than ever before.
Of course, the big takeaway from the deep dive was that it wasn’t just slightly better textures and better loading. While they didn’t show it, miHoYo says you can expect a unique version of Qingyun Peak coming to the game’s PS5 version, to make full use of the visual upgrade.
miHoYo says the PS5 version of the game also plans to include DualSense support, though they were unclear if this means it would be included in future.
“We’ve been working to develop various functions to fully utilize this next-gen console in the long run,” said Zhenzhong Yi, Technical Director of miHoYo. “In future updates, we will have much more potential to elevate the visual quality and game performance — we are only scratching the surface.”
