The creators of Genshin Impact, miHoYo, or otherwise known as HoYoverse globally, is potentially developing a new game as a new trademark has been registered under the company’s name.
According to a recent post on Reddit, netizens have found that miHoYo has registered a new trademark on the official Chinese trademark information website on February 2nd, 2024.
‘新布谷地’ (XinBuGuDi), which was the name of the trademark that was registered, directly translates to ‘Star Cloth Valley’ in English. Furthermore, netizens have also found that accounts with the same name have surfaced on both Bilibili and Weibo, with the Bilibili account having its IP address linking back to Shanghai, which is where miHoYo headquarters is based.
The two factors combined solidify the belief that these accounts are officially associated with miHoYo.
This has led to many netizens speculating that the newly registered name belongs to a previously leaked simulation management game, which would have a style similar to other games of the genre such as Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley.
As of writing, miHoYo has yet to give any response to the rumors, so fans can only speculate what the new trademark could mean for now. But knowing miHoYo’s recent success in multiple different genres with their games, it would not be surprising for them to continue branching out into more.
But at the same time, their upcoming game, Zenless Zone Zero has yet to be released, so only time will tell if this new trademark does translate into a new game from the company.
miHoYo or HoYoverse is a Chinese video game development and publishing company. They are the creator of some of the most popular mobile games right now such as Honkai Impact: 3rd, Genshin Impact, and Honkai: Star Rail.
