The 3.1 Update for Genshin Impact is now live with a lot of updates including the new feature that allows players to delete past quest files to reduce the size of the game.
The HoyoLab post reads as follows:
“On the Asia, Europe, America, and TW, HK, and MO servers, testing of the “Past Quest Resource Management” function has begun: Travelers can delete the audio and video resources corresponding to the completed Archon Quests and Story Quests on mobile, thus reducing the size of the game. The deleted audio resources can be re-downloaded after deletion. Travelers can do so in the “Settings > Resources > Quest Resources” interface. The function is now being tested in the Irminsul Server. Function testing will commence on the Celestia Server in Version 3.2.”
This feature is actually a life saver for those on mobile, more so when this feature is available only on mobile, as it is pretty much apparent that those on the mobile, especially on the older models are suffering from the titanic size of Genshin Impact’s game file.
As of the present 3.1 update, the size for Genshin Impact for mobile takes up over 20+ GB with the PC version having a total of 60+ GB.
There has been no news on this feature of deleting past quests data to come to the version PC as of yet and the only means of reducing the game size on that platform is to delete the audio files for languages that you do not use.
