GameTales has announced the development of a new MMORPG utilizing Unreal Engine 5, to be launched for PC and mobile devices. Unreal Engine 5 had been demo’d some time back with “Lumen in the Land of Nanite”, a real time tech demo on the Playstation 5.
Without any mention of even a placeholder name, this GameTales MMORPG is merely mentioned to be a large-scale game project that has never been released, which could mean literally anything. You would normally expect the game to be a mobile version capable of running on your PC, but apparently there will be two parts to this project: the mobile version will focus on “auto hunting and growth”, while the PC version will have more of the traditional large-scale multiplayer elements.
The PC version is also supposedly meant to target the Western market – namely North America and Europe – with its large scale battles and raids. At present, the MMORPG is being developed with the latest version of Unreal Engine 4.25, while gradually being ported over to Unreal Engine 5. Development using Unreal Engine 5 will apply to both PC and mobile versions of the game.
“Living details” and “dynamic global illumination” enabled by Unreal Engine 5 is being planned for this GameTales MMORPG. The game is currently set for a global launch some time in 2022, so it’ll probably be a while yet before new information will surface.
