We made our visit to GameStart Asia 2019 for the event! Let’s not forget about the incredible game that will be releasing next year, Cyberpunk 2077! There is a lot of hype and speculation behind the game and we at GamerBraves will definitely give you any information in our hands to you readers out there! Remember to check out our previous coverage on the Deep Dive 2019!
Now let’s go towards to the content.
This showcase of the game is an in-development gameplay showcase, which may or may not be in the final version. The showcase starts off somewhere in the game where the character has been customized. Players in this scenario will be playing as “V”. V’s appearance, background and basic abilities can be customized.
At the start of the gameplay, V is seeking help from Placide for a job. During their meeting with Placide, Placide attempts to connect to V’s cyberware which contains all the information of V. V makes a small scene but in order to get the job, they allow it. Placide checks and sees a mystery chip in V. V has no idea about it. Ignoring the details now, Placide downloads the mission into V. This allows Placide to contact and see through V’s visions.
Current mission: Go check a van which is located in an abandoned mall occupied by another gang named Animals.
There are 3 versions of the Demo being showed, with a similar story but different decisions made.
Version 1 Demo
V goes out to an area called Night City. They will need to get a vehicle to the Grand Imperial Mall in Pacifica. Somewhat like Grand Theft Auto, you can ride on any vehicle, but in the showcase, a motorcycle was chosen.
During the journey to Night City, you can see signboards of Pacifica. However, like most of the district, due to insufficient funding within the area, everything was left aside until the Animals gang took over. This is now a dangerous spot in Night City.
Near the mall in Night City, you were told by Placide to get some information from Placide’s gang member. This signifies that we will be able to learn some clues from the NPCs in the area. Every decision you make now affects the storyline in the long run.
Based on the information we got from the gang members, we know that the main entrance is under high surveillance, so the player has to sneak through the side entrance in order to get in. After entering the mall, players have to deal with one of the gang members. There are 2 ways to do it: you can defeat them by either killing them or leaving them alive. After that execution, you can either hide the body or leave it there. In this showcase, the body was thrown away.
The demo also highlights that players can proceed within the game without killing anyone.
After that, V hacks into the system and controls all the devices within the facility. After that, they make their way to the van they were looking for and this ends the demo.
Version 2 Demo
Players play as an aggressive and more physical-focused female V, but has no hacking abilities.
With these new characteristics, she can smash open doors and kill anyone she sees. She can also operate weapons very well! Weapons that we saw are as listed:
- A gun from the shooting robot
- Using an enemy’s body as shield
- Throwing swords
Version 3 Demo
This time around players play as a Netrunner V which has the ability to control the enemy by hacking their cyberware. A Netrunner has high hacking skill and unique Netrunner abilities such as:
- Hacking the enemies and make them kill themselves
- Hack the auto shooting robot to shoot its allies
- Pull out a special Nanowire to slice enemies.
- Nanowire can also used to hack into enemy’s implants from a distance.
This demo starts with the van already being located. After you find the van, you were exposed by other parties and now you need to run away!
Wow, the demo showcase was pretty amazing! We really can’t wait to get our hands on it! The visuals and playthrough looks INCREDIBLE. Will you buy the game?
