Do you remember what was the first game you ever played? Walk with us down memory lane as we explore the Retro Game Booth at GameStart Asia 2019!
The RetroDNA area showcased Samurai Shodown throughout the ages, playable on their original platforms. You could play the game on the Neo Geo AES, the Playstation with Arcade kit, and the Arcade version itself! The Playstation 4 version was also on site. Both the old and new collide in one spot! Likewise, games from the Playstation to Playstation 3, and PSP, eras were available for purchase.
Retrocity had more Samurai Shodown presence, alongside other games. Pinball machines, Brave Bubble Dragon, Mario games – to name but a few – could be enjoyed by visitors. Various retro consoles were on display, with descriptions for the less familiar. If you really were hankering to own some of these consoles, you could buy them too!
Which one of these did you own back in the day? The Virtual Boy may not have been a commercial success, it still was a part of the old gaming days, and finds its place here, memorialized in the long history of virtual entertainment systems. With the next generation of consoles coming, least of all, the Playstation 5, we should look back on these with fondness and remember how we grew up in gaming.
I mean, just look at the Nintendo Gameboy to start! We’re now in the Nintendo Switch age with ports coming out left and right for the console. We’ve come so far, and there’ll be more of gaming yet to come!
