We got to try out BattleBrew Productions’ Cuisineer ahead of its release during the Indie Wavemakers booth at gamescom asia 2023.
Cuisineer is a food-focused indie game that has elements from roguelite dungeon crawling games and restaurant simulator management games.
As you might have seen from our previous coverage on the game, the player steps into the shoes of Pom, who one day returns back home to find out her parent’s restaurant has been closed down and is in debt. Tasked with saving the business, Pom sets off from dungeon to dungeon collecting ingredients to bring back to serve up delicious food to hungry customers.
Cuisineer’s restaurant simulator has the player juggling between managing furniture inside the shop and making sure each customer is satisfied with their food order. SEA cuisine being featured in the game is also a plus in my book.
The roguelite dungeon crawling experience is equally as fun. Gameplay consists of weaving around enemies and making sure not to step on various traps. The dungeon levels are procedurally generated to keep combat feel fresh and have players be on their toes. We also found the combat to be very smooth and enjoyable.
I really enjoyed my time with Cuisineer during gamescom asia 2023, set in a bright and colourful world with an equally colourful cast of characters with very fun gameplay, the game left me wanting more.
Cuisineer will be released on November 10th, 2023 on Steam.
