Ever mysterious Death Stranding has more character introductions courtesy of Hideo Kojima. We’re introduced to Mama, played by Margaret Qualey.
We can hear a baby, but can’t see one. Kojima explains Mama’s baby was born “on the other side”, but that they are still connected through an umbilical cord. We see Deadman here too, played by Guillermo del Toro. He’s certainly being very technical about BB.
That’s not all, we’ve got a sneak peek at gameplay, with more hinted for Tokyo Games Show. We join a sleeping Sam. Urinating and emptying your bladder is something you can do, and one wonders how important it’ll be. We’re told if we do the same action in the same spot, something good can happen, like the mushroom popping up. Sam deploys a ladder, and he arrives at some pod tastefully decorated with the Kojima Productions logo. He seems to be able to deliver items for requests, and also register the area map with his dog tags?
Sam’s fall off the cliff agitates BB, and you’ll be able to use the controller motion controls to soothe the baby. Handle with care, or the baby will get angry. Just like a real child! At any rate, “connecting” is essential, though we don’t get details on how that’ll work.
We’ll look forward to learning more (or less?) of Death Stranding!
