This week’s issue of the GamerBraves Newsletter highlights a lesser-known fact about the twenty-year-old Playstation Vs Xbox console war. The console war, which has divided gamers into two different camps, barely ever touched Southeast Asia.
While Microsoft and Sony are racing to attract customers in the West, the former has barely delivered its Xbox products and services to Southeast Asia, despite the region being an incredibly profitable market as of late. Nintendo aside, PlayStation has complete dominance over console gamers in Southeast Asia.
Officially, the only country in the region that has Xbox support is Singapore, leaving the rest of us unable to access services like Xbox Game Pass “normally”. In fact, here in Malaysia, many Malaysians have never even seen an Xbox before, whereas a decent number of Malaysian households have had a PlayStation console resting inside a cabinet underneath their television at some point in time.
