Studio Trigger‘s power is not one to be underestimated, considering the smashing success of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime. The name itself should be embedded in the minds of the most cultured of anime fans due to the bombastic nature of their works – KILL la KILL, Darling in the Franxx, even a stint for Star Wars: Visions – cementing their position as one of, if not the, most darling of studios.
However, Studio Trigger didn’t exactly start off their obsession with space and aliens on their own. Founder Hiroyuki Imaishi brought over Gainax DNA, from which classics such as Neon Genesis Evangelion, Diebuster, and FLCL were born. With Gainax sadly dormant, Studio Trigger has taken that torch for themselves, so that the tradition of madness can continue.
