If you’re waiting for your big break, GamerBraves has opened two new positions to help those looking for Games Journalism Jobs. As one of the top media sites in the SEA region, GamerBraves is the English-speaking branch of Digital Braves Media Group, and you can also find similar positions for our sister sites Wanuxi and Gamer Santai.
We’re accepting applications for both full-timers and interns, meaning all experience levels are welcome to apply. The listings are on gaming job portal Careerbraves, also owned by the media group.
The positions are all based in Ara Damansara, accessible via LRT with ample parking space as well for employees who drive.
Full-Time Journalist Position
In this position, you’ll be writing for one of the top gaming sites in the SEA region, even being on the jury of big gaming awards shows like last year’s The Game Awards. You’ll be reviewing some of the newest games in the industry, often before release as well as interviewing a who’s who of industry figures.
Naturally, this position means you’ll need to be able to keep a few secrets, as behavior such as breaking NDAs isn’t a great look for an outlet, let alone one of its writers. While we’re not looking for formally educated journalists, you will need to be up to date with concepts like Libel and Defamation- as one of the biggest outlets in the region, your words will matter and we can’t have you using them irresponsibly.
You won’t purely be spending your time churning away at writing though, so you’ll need to have a keen graphic sense to make eye-catching thumbnails, as well as editing images to make sure they’re appropriate for web.
To apply, we’ll need a sample article of over 1000 words, complete with any pictures as well as a written CV. Applications can be submitted via the link above, with those who might specialize in other languages being able to apply to our sister sites Wanuxi and Gamer Santai.
Journalist Internship
If you’re a student or not sure if you’re ready to commit full-time, consider taking one of our Journalist Paid Internship programs, where you’ll better learn the ropes of operating as a member of the GamerBraves team.
You’ll be covering the top news of the industry, as well as receiving guidance from some of the best writers in the business. Suffice to say, this is a great opportunity to start out in the games media industry even if it’s not your background.
You’ll also need to be up to date with lots of current events, as well as things like defamation laws and the such- reporting these things requires at least rudimentary knowledge of them, after all.
Similar to the full-timers position, you will need to submit a written article of about 1000 words, as well as a written CV. Students applying as part of their Internship semester will also need a letter from their University or College as well. Like the full-timer position, those who might prefer to write in Chinese or Malay can also apply to our appropriate sister-sites.
Sales Representative (Digital Braves Media Group)
Of course, a Media organization is only as strong as the sales team backing it up. As a Sales Representative, you’ll need to be on the ball in forming connections with various brands and companies, looking for ways they can work together with Digital Braves.
You’ll also need to be organized, arranging sales meetings and being able to forecast sales for the entire team to organize accordingly. Prospective applicants will also need to be good negotiators, making sure that the company is getting as best a deal as it can out of the job.
Prospective applicants will need a minimum Diploma-level education, along with a strong Sales background. They’ll need to submit their applications along with a CV in PDF or Word format.
