The promised Winter 2022 update has finally arrived, and Fullmetal Alchemist Mobile has been slated for a Summer 2022 release. Pre-registrations have also been opened, alongside the release of its first trailer and an update to its official website. It was originally announced in July, as part of the series’ 20th anniversary celebrations.
Fullmetal Alchemist Mobile appears to be its finalized name, as generic as it is. The game will allow you to play through the original story fully voiced, with the cast reprising their roles. Battles are fought with characters rendered in 3DCG.
Pre-registration milestone rewards go up to 500,000 users, offering enough currency for a total of 20 gacha draws and an SR Winry unit whose design isn’t finalized at this moment. The typical giveaway campaign is likewise live to commemorate the start of pre-registrations, where two lucky fans can win themselves the complete set of the manga.
First impressions make it look like a fighting game, though the absence of an actual UI in the trailer makes it hard to tell if it would be some kind of tag team battler. Edward can alchemize weapons, and of course, characters have their flashy finishers. As for the story, there’s only a preview of the early arcs and a glimpse of the final one, so who knows what else they could put in. At time of writing, it’s a little unclear if Arakawa will be supervising the script.
Stay tuned for further updates.
