Steel Wool Studios has just released a teaser debut for Five Night’s at Freddy’s (FNAF): Secret of the Mimic, set to release in 2025. There are a total of 10 FNAF games that are from the mainline series.
Currently, there is no information on when exactly the game will release and on which platforms. Check out the teaser below.
The Mimic was first introduced in the book series “Tales from the Pizzaplex” and later appeared in the Security Breach RUIN DLC as the main antagonist for both. Here’s a bit of backstory for the Mimic so you get a gist of what it is.
Origin of The Mimic
In the late 1970s, Edwin Murray, an engineer for Fazbear Entertainment, built a robot named Mimic to care for his 4-year-old son David. Using parts from various sources and programming it to learn by imitation, Edwin created Mimic in twenty-two days. Mimic quickly bonded with David, learning numerous activities from him. Tragically, David was killed in an accident, leading Edwin into a deep depression. When Edwin saw Mimic using David’s learned gestures, he angrily destroyed the robot, which mirrored David’s final pose. Consumed by regret, Edwin fled the scene.
It was then that The Mimic started to adopt more aggressive and sinister behaviors. A week before Christmas, Fazbear Entertainment sends a team to an abandoned factory to address a “mess.” The team believes they need to complete Edwin’s unfinished projects and discovers the remains of Mimic. Though it appears functional from the waist up, it doesn’t move, so they attach legs from a defunct animatronic. Once completed, the Mimic activates and kills each team member in ways that eerily replicate harmless behaviors it had previously observed.
Many things are coming to the Five Night’s at Freddy’s series in 2025 such as the Dead by Daylight collab, movie and now Secret of the Mimic.
