The highly anticipated PC version of Final Fantasy XVI is currently in the “final stages of optimization” and a playable demo is expected to come before launch.
In a recent interview with Game Informer, Producer Naoki Yoshida said that the development team is already optimizing the technical requirements of the PC version of Final Fantasy XVI.
Although the release date was not disclosed, Yoshida said that players can rest assured that the development is going smoothly and it will be launched much sooner than we expected, “It won’t be too distant in the future; it won’t be a year, it won’t be two years, it will probably be shorter than that, so stay tuned.”
This puts it in a 2024 release window, which is a much shorter exclusivity period compared to previous Final Fantasy titles, with Final Fantasy VII Remake PC version released a year and a half after its PlayStation 4 launch and Final Fantasy XV arriving on PC two years after the console versions.
In the same interview, Yoshida also said that the system requirements for the Final Fantasy XVI PC version are looking to be relatively high.
Furthermore, Yoshida noted that the specifications and requirements will surely be announced ahead of time for players to figure out if their system could run the game.
The producer added that naturally, they are also looking to release a demo for the PC version, but players to better benchmark their systems.
“Again, we can’t really talk about too much in terms of details of when it’s going to come out – I think in a little bit more time we’ll be in a better place to announce things,” said Yoshida.
The 16th standalone entry in the legendary Final Fantasy series marks a darker turn for the RPG franchise, with a complex tale of revenge, power struggles, and unavoidable tragedy.
Final Fantasy XVI reimagines the series' iconic summons as Eikons. These deadly creatures are housed within Dominants, men, and women who inherit their immense power at birth - whether they like it or not.
Play as Clive Rosfield, First Shield of Rosaria, and guardian of his younger brother Joshua, the Dominant of the Eikon Phoenix, in this epic action RPG from a team of Final Fantasy veterans.
