Square Enix releases more Final Fantasy VII Remake (FFVIIR) screenshots, showing off details regarding Tifa, Red XIII, Hojo and more! The game had unfortunately been pushed back to a 10 April 2020 release, but no matter. Let’s get into the meat of things.
Red XIII
This one’s got red fur, sharp tails and a fiery tail, but Red XII isn’t any ordinary dumb creature. He’s intelligent and can converse just like any other person. Within the remake, Red XIII has been captured and became a test subject by a certain Shinra scientist named Hojo.
Hojo
Director of Shinra’s Research and Development Division, Hojo is a man who isn’t tied to ethics or morals. If any of his experiments will take a life, he’d do it without hesitation. Previous experiments had him perform special surgery on troops to increase their physical strength. This way, he’s able to create an elite unit of soldiers for Shinra.
Tifa Lockhart
Here’s Tifa Lockhart herself, member of Avalanche, a loyal friend and owner of the best bar in Sector 7. She’s also a strong fighter who beats down her foes with her fists and feet. In combat, Tifa is a fighter whom with enough button mashes will allow her to perform quick combos. Some of her abilities include:
- Whirling Uppercut
- Omnistrike
- Rise and Fall
Tifa’s Fighting Prowess
Within FFVIIR, attacking a foe will add to your ATB bar. With a full gauge, you can unleash a special move. We’ve previously seen Cloud’s and Barret’s, and now Tifa’s has been revealed! True Strike will simply attack a frontal enemy, with kicks judiciously applied to their body.
Summons
First up is the Chocobo Chick! Its hair seems quite reminiscent of Goku, or heck, even Cloud himself. Don’t be fooled by this fuzzy little thing though. This bird packs a punch in a tiny package! Get it included in your pre-order for FFVIIR in every edition.
Following that is Carbuncle, a mysterious creature with a diamond in its forehead. Using the shine from its gem, it can lend its power to its companion! Only available in the Digital Deluxe Edition.
Last but not least is the iconic Cactuar! Within FFVIIR, this summon is capable of fierce attacks with its needles! Its dopey face rather belies the pain, wouldn’t you think? Cactuar is available in Deluxe Editions, Digital Deluxe Editions and 1st Class Editions of the game.
With the reveal of Red XIII, Hojo and of course, Tifa, we should reasonably expect to see the first two in the April release of the game. Gotten your copies yet?
