The Final Fantasy VII 25th Anniversary Celebration Showcase ended on a strong note as fans were introduced to the sequel to FFVII Remake, which has been titled Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for the PS5.
Check out the first look full teaser trailer below:
The trailer is pretty cryptic, teasing Sephiroth being playable and implying that there will be several changes where the game will diverge from the original Final Fantasy VII including possibly undoing a couple of the game’s big twists (but likely replacing them with even bigger twists).
If it’s anything like Remake, however, it’ll still follow the basic plot points of the original PS1 game. We’ll have to wait and see where the future takes us I suppose.
Square Enix also confirmed that the Final Fantasy VII Remake project will be a trilogy of games with the third unannounced title coming out sometime after Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be coming out in the “next winter” which probably means the 4th quarter of 2023 exclusively for the PS5.
Other news announced at the 25th Anniversary Celebration Showcase includes a port of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade for Steam and a remaster of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII.
