With collaborations and new artworks of characters being implemented, a highlight coming into the game is the confirmation of an April Fools story revolving the Final Fantasy VII characters in a school setting, being turned into a real event. The event is stated to begin on April 30.
On April 1, Square Enix released a special set of artwork for Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis, reimagining its iconic characters as high school students in a setting dubbed Ever Crisis Academy. This playful reinterpretation featured characters like the kind and gentle Aerith as a rebellious delinquent, complete with a bold new outfit and attitude.
Whether intended as a lighthearted prank or a teaser for upcoming content at the time, the Ever Crisis Academy concept showcased Square Enix’s willingness to experiment and connect with fans through humor and creativity. It also highlighted the enduring popularity of the Final Fantasy VII universe and its characters, capable of captivating audiences even in unconventional scenarios, therefore leading to these artworks becoming an actual in-game event players can take part in.

Additionally with the schedule of this event coming in the end of April, Tifa, Barrett and Aerith will have exclusive costumes and items tailored to their April Fools designs which can be attained in the games event gacha.
