The long-rumored remaster of the PlayStation classic Final Fantasy Tactics is claimed to be real and active in development as revealed by Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier.
This update was shared on a post in the Gaming Leaks and Rumors subreddit, where Schreier joined in on a discussion and wrote “The Final Fantasy Tactics remaster is real and happening.” No further information was provided.
Final Fantasy Tactics was one of the two Final Fantasy games that were heavily rumored and speculated to receive some form of re-release when it was discovered as part of a huge database leak of unannounced games on Nvidia’s GeForce Now streaming service in 2021.
Nvidia later clarified that the list was real but it was for internal testing, and games on the list may not necessarily exist.
The original leak also listed a remake of Final Fantasy IX, which recently sparked a rumor after a leak from Epic Games Store database EpicDB revealed a codename that pointed towards the title.
Recently in an interview, the producer-director behind Final Fantasy XIV and Final Fantasy XVI, Naoki Yoshida, better known as Yoshi-P among fans, expressed that it is “probably about time that we do a new” Final Fantasy Tactics.
