To commemorate the launch of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on 29 February 2024, Square Enix has revealed that the Final Fantasy VII Advent Children movie will be screened in theaters weeks before the game’s release.
According to the announcement, Final Fantasy VII Advent Children will be in Japanese cinemas from January 19th, 2024, through February 1st, 2024.
The movie will also be screened in the AMC Theaters in the United States on 21 February 2024, however, it is not noted how long the cinemas will be running the film in the country.
The version of the movie being screened is noted to be the 2021 remastered Complete Edition that runs in 4K resolution, and this will be the first time this version is getting a theatrical run.
If you have never seen the movie yet, Final Fantasy VII Advent Children is a 2005 CG film that took place 2 years after the events of the original game.
The story focuses on the appearance of a mysterious trio kidnapping children infected with an unknown disease known as Geostigma with protagonist Cloud Strife going on a rescue mission.
In an interview with The Guardian, Tetsuya Nomura who directed the movie and now serving as the creative director for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, said that the remake trilogy would have elements and parts derived from the events of Advent Children.
