With Final Fantasy as a series approaching its 34th birthday this 2021, Square Enix will be hosting a livestream featuring Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, with a play through of the original game on Famicom broadcasted simultaneously.
Both the Final Fantasy 2021 birthday livestreams will be available to catch on Youtube, with the Stranger of Paradise livestream here, and the Famicom play through here. They will air 18 December 2021, 19:00 JST.
The Stranger of Paradise livestream will apparently be “unravelling the connection” between the original Final Fantasy and itself, as well as share the latest information regarding the title. Presenters named include:
- Hatsune Matsushima (host)
- Kasumi Ashizawa (game talent, voice actor)
- Yoshinori Kitase (Final Fantasy series brand manager)
- Tetsuya Nomura (Square Enix creative producer, voice-only)
- Masashi Fujiwara (Square Enix producer)
- Daisuke Inoue (Square Enix director)
You can check out our impressions of the demo here, which turned out to be actually quite good after a rocky reveal. The game is currently scheduled to launch 18 March 2022, available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and PC via Epic Games.
Pre-orders are available, offering 3 days early access on console (1 day for PC). EU fans getting the physical edition can get themselves a steelbook with art inspired by Yoshitaka Amano’s work for the original Final Fantasy.
