EA has announced that the newly revealed FIFA 23 will feature intra-generation cross play, as well as new features born of the game’s improved HyperMotion 2 technology.
What they mean by intra-generation cross play is that while consoles like PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, as well as PC, would be able to play their favorite game against each other, the same wasn’t true of the last generation versions- PS5 and PS4 players would not be able to play the game together.
It’s explicitly mentioned, however, that cross play in FIFA 23 would only affect 1v1 modes
They also revealed new innovations coming to the series, thanks in part to the new and improved HyperMotion 2.
Part of these innovations include the new Power Shot, which you can activate by holding down both bumpers in a high risk, high reward manouver.
While normal shots on goal are simply a matter of hitting the shoot button at the right time, these Power Shots would allow you to get more power in- though the longer you hold it down, the longer you leave yourself open.
They’d also reworked how Penalty and Free Kicks work in FIFA 23- With free kicks, you can now use the right analog stick to change the trajectory of the ball, adding a new layer of mindgames to some real life-or-death situations.
Similarly, there’s new defensive options at play too- players can now lie down behind the wall of players, potentially stopping free kicks that choose to go low.
