Fat Round Meta Knight Is A Thing in Kirby’s Dream Buffet And Fans Are Loving Him

Kirby’s Dream Buffet will be released today and while it looks very cute, fans across the internet have been taken aback by the round adorable, fat blorb that is Meta Knight in this game.

Ok, it’s actually round, fat, blorb, Kirby wearing a Meta Knight costume but we can still pretend it’s him.

Kirby’s Dream Buffet is a Kirby spin-off that sees Kirby shrink to the size of a marble to partake in Fall Guy’s style obstacle courses trying to eat as many sweets as possible. You’re able to play as many different colored Kirby’s and wear a number of different costumes including playing as a “Meta Navy” Kirby wearing a Meta Knight Mask.

You unlock the mask by getting your Gourmet Rank to 24 and you can get the Meta Navy color palette by getting to Rank 25. You go up in ranks by eating more strawberries through the game’s different modes.

Perhaps it shouldn’t be too surprising considering Kirby and Meta Knight while seeming like polar opposites in personality, are actually quite similar. In fact, they’re actually the same species. Whenever you defeat Meta Knight in a boss battle his mask shatters revealing he looks exactly like Kirby only dark blue instead of pink.

Regardless, this has led to wide cries of laughter as Kirby fans imagine the ever-serious and shadowy Meta Knight, “canonically” unleashing his inner chonk and rolling around on top of a giant cake (even if it’s not actually him). Many users are comparing it to an older ‘fat Meta Knight’ mod for the Wii game Kirby’s Return to Dreamland.

I suppose no matter how tough you look in your steel mask and bat wings when you live in Dreamland with a penguin for a king, talking trees, and an eldritch abomination disguised as a smiling pink puffball, you’re bound to encounter a little silliness every now and then.

Kirby’s Dream Buffet featuring the fat round Meta Knight costume is available on the Nintendo Switch Eshop starting today on the 17th of August. This will be the second Kirby game released this year following the mainline title Kirby and The Forgotten Land.
