Into the second week of Far Cry New Dawn‘s initial release, we have already completed almost half the game. The game is extremely enjoyable and it is definitely worth playing although there are negatives all around too. Here is our Far Cry New Dawn review. Before that, you might want to have a read at our interview with James Nadiger, the associate narrative director of Far Cry New Dawn.

The game starts off with a story that tells about a nuclear catastrophe that threw the world into absolute chaos. 17 years have passed and a part of civilization made its comeback in Hope County. The people there rebuilt everything which allowed them to live a prosperous life. Unfortunately, most good things do not last as the Highwaymen raided and took over Hope County, killing people in the process.
The Highwaymen are led by the notorious twins, Mickey and Lou. You, as the captain of Thomas Rush’s men, is tasked with bringing peace back to Hope County. As you approach the chaotic Hope County, you will first start off with guns as you get to loot through the area and rescue kidnapped people. The Highwaymen there are difficult to deal with because there are just too many of them. You will have to fight through them mercilessly.
After fighting through the countless Highwaymen, you will finally meet the twins in person on a mountain cliff. After questioning, Rush will push you off the cliff into the river to save your life. You will then get saved by Carmina. Unfortunately, the guns you have obtained from loot and Highwaymen corpses are lost. You will have to start from scratch by obtaining resources such as plants and carcasses to build weapons for yourself.
You and Carmina will start the journey to retake Hope County from the Highwaymen. Of course, you cannot just retake the place with just a bow and arrows. Go on Expeditions to obtain more resources and items to craft better weapons to give yourself more firepower to take on the Highwaymen. Ambush Outposts to obtain the precious and scarce ethanol to upgrade your Prosperity.
The story is interesting and everything else in the game is decent but the graphics is definitely the most impressive aspect of all. We absolutely love the graphics, the beautiful, colourful open world and how the characters are designed. Unfortunately, the story is kind of short and that is arguably the only downside of Far Cry New Dawn. If you decide to go hardcore on this, you will probably finish the game quicker than expected.
