Fans have been discussing a recent interview that touches on the future and potential end game of Genshin Impact, of which seems unclear.
TALKING POINTS
Let’s start off with summarizing the content of the interview, via Gamespot:
- Shorter update cycle will not influence quality of gameplay and content
- No plans for end game content similar to Spiral Abyss to avoid “excessive anxiety” for players. Aside from the card game, they are “working on designing more interesting gameplay in the future”
- New battlegrounds, challenge levels and team builds will not power creep older characters
- No plans regarding new elemental reactions following Dendro’s introduction
- Options to redeem materials from periodic events, but no conclusive answer regarding resin regeneration
- Working on solutions to relive past events, tutorial adjustments, client optimization, etc.
- No plans on Traveler outfits, permanent versions of story-related accessories
- Stay Tuned TM for potential Hoyoverse collaborations for Genshin
WHERE TO FROM HERE?
like there’s no way they expect TCG to carry the entire endgame content for the next 3+ years be serious hoyo

You can find comments for people saying that they should “stop playing Genshin Impact so much” if they’re worried about the lack of content, much less end game, saying it’s “enough” for the busy people. Conversely, the content that does exist, for the busy or otherwise, simply doesn’t appeal, and they’ve stopped playing altogether. Even when they do come back, it seems like it’s a pile up of quests, rather than “interesting” content.
There are apparent speculations that Genshin was made to solely fund Honkai, whichever way you’d like to take that. Amongst the common comments you can find within this one Tweet thread’s replies include:
- Replayable past events (apparently being worked on)
- Something related to artifacts to reroll a chosen stat
- Unclaimed Welkin Blessings to go to mail if you don’t log in
- Alternative game modes inspired by Alchemy Stars‘ Calamity Codex, Elemental Spires, or even repurposing Honkai Impact 3rd‘s Elysian Realm
For now, we only have the Genius Invokation card game confirmed as new permanent content for Genshin Impact, whether or not it’s considered actual “end game” content. We don’t have the full details on how the card game works either, so we can only wait to reserve judgment.
Genshin Impact could benefit from much longer roadmaps to inform players of upcoming plans instead of being defeatist, saying they shouldn’t be expecting change, and all the negative opinions. The interview doesn’t seem to have assured people at all, jumping to conclusions that Hoyoverse just doesn’t appear to have any concrete ideas for the future.
Leaks for the game remain prevalent if you know where to look, which you could take to mean that the people are tired of waiting, of lack of open communication, even if leaking things could come at high cost. There’s likely still many years yet for Genshin Impact, but no one but the dev team knows where this ride will go.
