3d artist and Vtuber fan Kagerou has taken it upon himself to bring Vtubers into the real world, having made a 1:1 scale bust of the Vtuber Inugami Korone.
In an 8-minute video posted to YouTube, he detailed the step-by-step process of making the Vtuber, starting with sculpting the bust in Zbrush. After finishing the sculpt he had to break it up into separate pieces, before 3d printing the individual pieces and assembling them.
After sanding down the pieces of the Korone bust, Kagerou starts the painting process, even hand-painting details like the eyebrows, eyes and eyelashes (they aren’t sculpted on, either, so it’s all freehand). He does mention that the reflection on the eyes is actually a sticker, and can be removed to create a more horror-esque visage for the Vtuber a la Evil God Korone.
It’s really well made- the paintjob is especially intricate, feeling like something companies like Good Smile might actually release if there was enough of a demand for it.
Kagerou even included a Kadomatsu, one of Korone’s most bizarre accessories to go with the bust that he posted on New Year’s.
He’s been posting work-in-progress shots of this Inugami Korone Bust project as early as November of 2021- but he only just posted the full video of the process yesterday.
With the project done, he’s even made a special box to go with it as well as a “Shining-style” panel to really amp up what everyone loves most about Inugami Korone, and that is the slight fear for your life.
