Family Trainer is the latest entry in the Nintendo Switch’s growing exercise catalogue, letting you exercise along with your family when it releases September 3rd.
The game seems to bring an almost theme-park level of activity into your living room, letting you do events like snowboarding, obstacle courses as well as kayaking.
The game makes use of the same leg band as used in Ring Fit Adventure, keeping one Joycon strapped to track your leg actions like running or jumping. The rest of the controls are assigned to the other Joy Con,with what they do tied to the event at hand.
The key selling point of Family Trainer seems to be that it’s more group-oriented, with the idea being that you pass the controllers between the rest of your family to try out the different events. Bandai Namco Entertainment confirmed as much with their description of the game’s target audience:
Simple controls and intuitive play make the game easy to pick up and play, and let players of any age get physical while having fun. The game also features a multiplayer mode* that will let players go head-to-head to see who can get the highest score or work together as a team to achieve a common goal.
There’s also a multiplayer mode, but that requires an additional pair of Joy Cons as well as a leg strap, basically meaning you’ll need a second Switch and copy of the game.
