Ammobox Studios is a game development company based in Malaysia. EXIMIUS: Seize The Frontline started out as Project Combine back in 2008. The project went on to be pitched at the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation Intellectual Property Creators Challenge (MDEC IPCC) back in 2008 which secured them the Technopreneur Development Grant. With that, the project has gone through transformations to what we see now, EXIMIUS: Seize The Frontline.
Technical Lead Jeremy Choo and Shaikh Zhafri as Art Director of Ammobox Studios along with their team members has created a very unique PC game. With the combination of a First Person Shooter with Real Time Strategy, the game sets players as a Commander of a squad of 4 Officers to pit against a 5vs5 multiplayer experience.
As the Commander, players will be able to switch between RTS mode where players will have a bird’s eye view of the battlefield and build bases, train infantry squads and assigning them to the Officers. Players will then manage their resources and assign troops to support the other Squad Officers. There are vehicles, air support and even dropships that are up for command which can change the dynamics of the battlefield.
Players can also assume battle playing as one of the Officers, leading the squad of AI into battle for victory. The AIs are trained and built to read the battlefield and will react appropriately against the enemy squads while keeping the troops alive or capturing Resource Points for further upgrades. With the highly dynamic gameplay, players will be able to switch between a Commander on the battlefield or as an operator making strategic decisions that could impact the flow of combat.
The experience playing the game as an RTS can be relatable to Company of Heroes by Relic Games. As players command their squad through the battlefield seamlessly switching between FPS mode or RTS mode, it seems to be very promising. Built with Unreal Engine, the game sports very beautiful environments which gives out a very immersive gameplay. With the announcement during GDC 2018, Steam Early Access is now available starting today!
