Amazon Prime Video will be streaming the English release of the latest Evangelion movie, 3.0+1.01 : Thrice Upon A Time, as well as the other three movies in Rebuild of Evangelion.
In a press statement, Amazon says the movies will be streamed to over 240 different countries, with the assumption that Malaysia is on the list considering the service is available here as well. We’ve asked Amazon for comment and will update when they respond.
Evangelion 3.0+1.01 ‘s English release is set for August 13th, where it will release alongside the other three Rebuild of Evangelion movies.
This will also be the debut for the English dub of Evangelion 3.0+1.01, as the movie’s international release also means it will include multiple dubbed languages, as well as 28 different subtitle languages for the international audience.
Evangelion 3.0+1.01 got a theatrical release in Japan, although the movie had to shift release dates due to a State of Emergency in the country. It’s the final chapter of Rebuild of Evangelion- a theatrical reimagining of the original Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Watching The Evangelion Series
Admittedly, it’s a bit of a mess to watch the whole Evangelion series now. Netflix acquired the rights to stream the original Neon Gensesis Evangelion, alongside its movie, The End of Evangelion and the various recap movies. However, the streaming platform never got the rights for the subsequent follow-ups, the Rebuild of Evangelion movies.
Now, on the other hand, Amazon has acquired the rights for the Rebuild Series, which while not directly connected to the original series, many fans have the opinion that they’re best enjoyed having seen the originals.
