Esports and entertainment organisation FaZe Clan announced a collaboration with DC, with some of its members appearing in a Batman comic book. The Batman comic book will be written by Josh Trujillo, co-creator of the new gay Captain America, and illustrated by Scott Eaton.
FaZe clan members Richard “Banks” Bengston, Thomas “Temperrr” Oliveira, Nordan “Rain” Shat, Brian “Rug” Awadis, Alexander “Adapt” Prynkiewicz and Lucas “Blaze” Mosing will be appearing in the Batman issue. It will release on 24 September, 2021 12 pm PT together with other collaboration merchandise. Be sure to visit FaZe Clan’s online store once that time arrives.
According to FaZe Clan Head of Marketing Xavier Ramos:
“We loved the idea of taking on a new life form and creating something tangible for our fans for this special collaboration. To watch FaZe Clan transcend gaming into traditional entertainment over the years has been nothing short of extraordinary and we can’t wait for our fans to see all of the incredible projects we have coming.”
While sports icons such as Muhammad Ali have appeared in DC Comics in the past (Even defeating the almighty Superman), this marks the first time in history that an esports brand will be appearing in a comic book collab.
Earlier this year, Batman was most notably featured in a Fortnite crossover called Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point which ran for six issues. Just a few days ago, Batman himself was recently announced to be collaborating with Japanese waifu gacha RPG, SINoALICE just a few days ago.
