Yesterday, Syed Saddiq the Youth and Sports Minister of Malaysia said that the Esports Blueprint will be ready by April. So, what exactly is this Esports Blueprint? It is a blueprint to help develop the Electronic Sports (Esports) in Malaysia. In addition, Syed Saddiq even mentioned about the five main strategies that the blueprint will tackle.
Here’s an overview of the five main strategies:
- The development of athletes towards Esports excellence.
- Support for the growth of the Esports industry.
- Access to better Esports facilities to attract investors .
- Build public awareness and promote responsible games.
- Instilling good governance & administration in the Esports industy.
With Syed Saddiq bringing Esports into the limelight, we can see Esports getting a rightful spot in Malaysia. However, I do hope that the direction that they are heading will also help in providing better internet coverage in Malaysia. Although internet is not something new in Malaysia, we still lack the accessible to it in some areas (some can relate). Personally, I think that by utilizing the internet will help tremendously in bringing up Esports in Malaysia.
The reasons being:
Improvement in internet accessibility means getting more audience to watch Esports in Malaysia. Which will in turn lead to more advertising revenue for streamers. Furthermore, with it being a potential job opportunity means getting more players (some becoming Professional Esports Player or Streamers), this will lead to more exciting games being played. Adding all these up together will finally give Esports a better environment in Malaysia!
This are all just personal opinions but hats off to Syed Saddiq for being the one putting together the Esports Blueprint and getting Esports up there in Malaysia!
