Here’s good news for fans of retro consoles. Epicsoft Asia will be bringing the SEGA Genesis Mini to South East Asia. SEA will basically be getting the console on the same day everyone else will: 19 September 2019.
First announced in March, the mini console was set to launch in the US and Japan initially. With this new announcement, it is now confirmed to be heading to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
Here’s a breakdown of the pricing for each country:
- Singapore – 119.90 SGD
- Malaysia – 359.00 MYR
- Thailand – 3,390 THB
- Indonesia – 1,499,000 IDR
- Philippines – 4,590 PHP
The goal of the console is to bring back that retro experience in a smaller form factor. In fact, it is 55% smaller than the original console and comes with different replica ports and a volume slider. You will also get two USB controllers, an HDMI cable, and the power cable in the package.
The mini console will be pre-loaded with over 40 classic games from the SEGA Genesis era. You can see all 42 titles in the image below.
SEGA views the release of the console as an important thing, as expressed by a big wig from SEGA Games.
“I am really excited to have the opportunity to launch the SEGA Genesis Mini in Asia. SEGA Genesis Mini is not only a game console, but also brings back great memories of SEGA’s history. I hope every Genesis fan, SEGA fan and gamers in general can love this new retro game machine.” – Miyazaki Hiroyuki, Executive Manager in SEGA of Japan
