Square Enix has announced the end of service for Engage Kill, the mobile game of its Project Engage multimedia project, less than a year since the game’s launch.
According to the announcement on the game’s official website, Engage Kill will be ending its service on March 21st, 2024, at 12 AM (JST).
After the announcement, the sales of “Orgonium”, the game’s paid in-app currency ceased effectively immediately.
Players who still have Orgonium in their possession can still use it until the end of the game’s service.
To comply with Japan’s law, Square Enix will be issuing a refund to players who still have unused Orgonium after the game’s shutdown.
The developers advised players not to uninstall the game as it would affect the game’s data and the refund procedure.
Engage Kill
Engage Kill is part of the Project Engage multimedia project by Aniplex with Date a Live illustrator Tsunako working as the main character designer.
An anime series from the project titled Engage Kiss was produced by A-1 Pictures and began broadcasting in July 2022.
The mobile game takes place after the events of the animated show with a focus on the newly founded Rising Sun Military Company and the anime protagonist Shū seeking to end tragedies.
Released on March 1st of this year exclusively in Japan, Engage Kill has amassed a total revenue of over $2 million USD in its lifespan.
The highest peak in revenue was during the game’s launch, which saw an earning of more than $1 million USD, but its performance had a huge drop the following month.
As of writing, the game has accumulated a total of 269,443 downloads.
