The release date for the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion DLC for Elden Ring has finally been revealed after nearly two years of wait.
As announced, the release date for Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree expansion DLC is scheduled for 21 June 2024 for all platforms the title is available on, namely PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
The release date reveal coincided with a new Elden Ring trailer for Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, teasing us with glimpses of new weapons, sorceries, incantations, enemies, and many hints about the lore.
Opening with the familiar sight of Miquella’s arm hanging out a cacoon in Mohg’s arena, hinting to us that it will be the trigger for the DLC.
Aside from showcasing various scenes that hint towards more lore for St. Trina, Bestial Incantations, Those Who Live in Death, and more, the trailer also places a huge emphasis on a new mysterious boss named Messmer the Impaler – who donned a garment similar to the Drake Knight set in the base game.
With a length of 3 minutes, it is without a doubt that fans will be heating up to dissect every frame of the trailer and speculate on the lore.
In addition to DLC gameplay and release date reveal, Bandai Namco also unveiled a Collector’s Edition for a bundle with the base game, which will include a statue for the aforementioned Messmer the Impaler, as well as a 40-page hard-cover artbook and official soundtrack.
The DLC was originally announced about a year ago around Elden Ring’s first anniversary with only a title and concept illustration.
A month ago, a backend update on Steam was discovered, fueling speculation that news for the Elden Ring DLC is imminent.
