A recent update on the backend of Steam hints towards the possibility of news regarding the highly anticipated Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree dropping very soon.
After a long silence since the announcement of Shadow of the Erdtree about a year ago, an entry to the Elden Ring’s DLC section has been spotted on Steam data tracker SteamDB.
As mentioned, the entry “Unknown App 2778580” was added to the Downloaded Content list of Elden Ring on Steam, marking the first DLC entry in 15 months.
Shadow of the Erdtree was announced in February of last year with a single piece of concept art, not long after the game’s first anniversary and no further details have been shared by developer FromSoftware since.
Despite the news drought, fans have been decoding the art piece and speculating on the potential setting where the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC will take place, with many believing that Miquella (twin brother of infamous boss Malenia) will be playing a major role.
In December, a retailer put up a product page for Elden Ring-themed controllers from Thrustmaster that would launch this February to “sync with the new “Shadow of the Erdtree” expansion release”, before swiftly pulling down the page.
Interestingly, a second wave of controllers was also mentioned and claimed to be released in 2025 to coincide with a “major keybeat or new game expansion”, suggesting a second DLC in the works.
Last week, collectible figures creator PureArts put out an unexpected post on its official Twitter, announcing that they will be launching Elden Ring figures in February 2024.
