Not only are Elden Ring fans celebrating the long-awaited launch of Shadow of the Erdtree DLC today but also the surprise update that allows you to finally summon Torrent to fight the final boss in the base game!
If you are only diving into Elden Ring recently in hype for the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, here is a spoiler warning.
In preparation for the launch of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, FromSoftware put out a chunky patch for Elden Ring for the first time in a long while.
Patch 1.12 brought in many quality-of-life changes, PvP balance tweaks, new hairstyles, and many more. However, this particular line would change a huge part of the gameplay experience that fans have been begging for 2 years.
Added new feature to summon spectral steed during the Elden Beast the boss battle.
You read that right, your spectral steed Torrent can now join in the fun against the final boss – the Elden Beast, and fans are losing it.
While the Elden Beast isn’t as tough as the infamous Malenia or delayed attack expert Morgott, many players find the boss to be one frustrating battle.
The arena is colossal and Elden Beast tends to peace out to the other end of the battlefield, leading the whole experience to be one giant cat-and-mouse chase.
Popular Soulslike content creator ZullieTheWitch even asked their followers on X for their opinions of Torrent being summonable in the Elden Beast boss fight at one point. Of 27,771 responses, 66.2% of players believe summoning Torrent would improve the battle.
How do you think having access to Torrent would affect your impression of the Elden Beast boss fight?
