Elden Ring players are honoring the Furled Finger named Let Me Solo Her, who’s spent the past week (that we know of, at least) carrying players through Malenia, Blade of Miquella.
As is customary of any Souls badass, the instructionally named Let Me Solo Her isn’t dressed like some big hero- such heroes never are- instead, they’re wearing a jar on their head, with a katana in either hand for teaching the “undefeated” blade of Miquella a lesson in humility.
One user even described their meeting Let Me Solo Her, and it sounds like the kind of story you’d read about a long-lost hero:
“It was a man, wearing nothing but a jar on his head, holding 2 katanas, named “let me solo her” I considered against it. But I was curious, and who am I to deny him his wish?”, writes u/sazed813 on reddit.
“The man took no damage except from some rot on the flower attack. He was flawless, and put all my attempts to shame. I definitely didn’t kill Malenia, but either way, she is dead”.
“The multiplayer component to Fromsoft games is fairly modest compared to most games, and yet it’s so damn elegant that one player who helps others get past Elden Ring’s hardest boss is being mythologized and revered by the community“, writes Twitter user Paul, upon seeing the sheer outpouring of support for the jarred hero.
Meanwhile on r/Eldenring, there’s no shortage of tributes for the player- from simple screenshots of them working their rot-killing magic to even fanart, Elden Ring players are really grateful for the services of Let Me Solo Her.
Some have even gone more elaborate with their fanart- using the time they would have spent banging their head against the Blade of Miquella instead on sculpting their heroic saviour, like a bard following around a powerful knight.
The Souls Games have a unique way of doing multiplayer, wherein players leave “summon signs” on the floor that have a chance to appear in other players games.
As such, many Souls games have seen this kind of behavior before, such as with the similarly named Midir Hunter from Dark Souls 3, duty bound to fight Darkeater Midir until the end of time.
But the sheer outpouring of support and adoration for Let Me Solo Her in Elden Ring is just another mark of the game’s mass mainstream success- that many players are seeing the PC-based folk hero and committing resources to mythologize them just shows how the Souls series have moved from a niche funny story no one at a party would get to an actual capital E event.
That, or people just *really* hate Malenia, Blade of Miquella.
