FromSoftware Inc, the company that brought the Elden Ring, Dark Souls and Bloodborne series’ to the forefront, had announced their new upcoming multiplayer game during the Nintendo Switch 2 direct titled The Duskbloods.
Hidetaka Miyazaki, the director of Elden Ring has stated during the Nintendo Creator’s Voice series that The Duskbloods was meant to start out as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive before Nintendo had even approached the company about making the game for the console. He then explains as to how the game came to be as well as his interest in the PvPvE genre.

Miyazaki says he has always found the concept of PvPvE very interesting, as it allows a broader span of game design ideas while maintaining a leverage of their experience when it comes to designing challenging enemy encounters. Despite these comments, Miyazaki has carefully reassured fans that FromSoftware will not stray away from the style of games that made their company what it is today.
Although the company is moving forward with a multiplayer game, it does not mean they have shifted completely into this genre of games in the long run.
He then states that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Elden Ring has also been announced, and the company still intends to develop more single player games similarly to Elden Ring that still embraces their tradition of games.

The Duskbloods will feature a dozen playable characters to choose and customize from, based on the words of the director himself. He has also explained that the rat at the end of the official trailer will have a similar role as the Fire Keepers in Dark Souls. They will remain in the hub area providinf players with guidance moving forward. The idea of this character was to bring a certain Nintendo element into the game given the partnership they currently have.
The character itself gives the game cute twist despite it being a much elderly gentlemen.
