Like the Acer ET322QK gaming monitor we reviewed a while ago, the ED3 arrived in Malaysia around the same time. It is arguably even better than the ET322QK, mainly because of the tempting curved screen. I mean, who does not love a curved screen monitor? Back to the topic, we got our hands on the ED3 and we have already tried it out by playing some PS4 games. Here’s our review.
The 31.5-inch, 250 nits ED3 comes with a 144Hz VA panel and has an impressive resolution of 2560 x 1440. It also possesses AMD Radeon FreeSync technology that resolves the communication issues between processor and monitor. With that, it helps massively in eliminating image tears and choppiness to produce constant smooth gameplay. It basically syncs your display’s frame rate to the video card.
The features it possesses are specially made to prolong your gaming time. These features include the Acer Flickerless technology, BlueLightShield, ComfyView anti-glare technology and low-dimming option.
Everybody knows extended hours of gaming is obviously not good for your eyes but worry not because Acer cares. Acer VisionCare combines several technologies to reduce eye strain and provide a more comfortable viewing experience.
One of these Acer VisionCare technologies is, the BlueLightShield reduces the exposure of blue light which can be potentially harmful to our eyes, by adjusting the color hue and brightness. Another one is the Flickerless technology which eliminates screen flickering by providing a stable supply of power to the display.
A rapid 144Hz refresh rate means faster frame rendering and lower input lag which ensures ultra-smooth viewing. Other features include a high-speed 4ms response time and Vertical Alignment (VA) supported by Panel Technology.
What is more intriguing is undoubtedly the design of the monitor. Its curved screen rating comes at a measurement of 1800R. If the curve were to make a complete circle, the circle would have a radius of 1,800mm or 1.8m. Basically, “R” is to measure a curve and the lower the “R” is, the greater the curve.
Additionally, there is the Wide Viewing Angle (WVA) that always provides you with the best experience no matter which angle you are viewing from. Images will distort and colours will change when you view an ordinary monitor from various angles. As for a WVA monitor, as long as you view it within its radius of 178°, it will still maintain its image clarity and prime colours.
Furthermore, for a gaming monitor of its calibre, the price comes at just RM1499. Yes, it is surprisingly cheap! If you have a tight budget and you are looking for a decent gaming monitor without spending too much, this is it. The ED3 is available in all Acer’s authorized resellers throughout Malaysia. You can also get it through Acer’s official online stores.
