EA has announced that three beloved titles—Crysis 3, Dead Space 2, and Dante’s Inferno—will be shutting down their servers this year.
As indicated on EA’s official “Online Services Shutdown” page, the shutdown dates for the three titles are as follows:
- Crysis 3 – September 7, 2023
- Dante’s Inferno – December 8, 2023
- Dead Space 2 – December 8, 2023
This marks the latest group of older titles that EA is discontinuing, following their earlier announcement this year about shutting down servers for Kingdoms of Amalur, Shadows of the Damned, Syndicate, and Warp.
Last year, several games, including the prominent 2008 parkour title Mirror’s Edge, also had their online services discontinued.
It’s important to highlight that only the online services for these games are being terminated. If you own the games digitally, rest assured that you’ll still be able to enjoy their single-player modes without any disruptions.
The remastered edition of the Crysis trilogy released in 2021 only included single-player modes, so the shutdown of servers will be disappointing for players who were still enjoying the multiplayer mode of Crysis.
Back in January of last year, Crytek made an announcement that they were in the process of developing the fourth installment in this well-known FPS series; however, there has been no further information or updates shared since the initial announcement.
For those who enjoy the multiplayer modes of Crysis 3 and Dead Space 2, it’s best to make the most of these final sessions and say your farewells before they are lost forever in the digital abyss.
