Dynasty Warriors: Origins is set 150 years after the founding of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the story unfolds during a time of extreme hardship. Natural disasters and harsh weather have led to widespread famine, leaving people starving and desperate. Instead of offering relief, corrupt rulers exploit the population through heavy taxation and embezzlement, worsening their suffering.
Amid this chaos, the amnesiac protagonist arrives at a desolate village. There, he meets a compassionate Long-Haired Man aiding the villagers with his allies, and a defiant Bearded Hero resisting the oppressive authorities. When a child is in danger, the protagonist joins them in fighting back against the government forces.
As the new year begins, a turning point emerges. The Way of the Great Peace—a movement that had gained the people’s trust—rises in rebellion against the Han regime. Wearing yellow cloth as a symbol, they become known as the Yellow Turbans, sparking what history will call the Yellow Turban Rebellion.
Later, the protagonist crosses paths with the Bearded Hero once more, this time in the northern region of You Province, as the conflict intensifies.
