Koei Tecmo has just opened pre-registration for its upcoming Dynasty Warriors game for the Android and iOS platforms in Japan, which is scheduled for a launch sometime around March 2021.
In case you didn’t remember, the game was first announced together with a console version of Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires during Tokyo Game Show 2020, and unlike the other outsourced smartphone releases that were taken on by Tencent and Nexon, this will be done entirely in-house. At launch, the game will only include a small sample of the roster, although the developer intends to include all 94 unique characters from the series down the line.
Supporting both portrait and landscape modes, Dynasty Warriors will boast several game modes, including single-play and versus. As per the Dynasty Warriors tradition, the story features branching routes, and is filled with various collectibles such as illustrations, weapons and alternate character skins. For the time being, the game is only a Japan exclusive, though we wouldn’t count an international release out, given its popularity in general. Also ahead of the launch, Koei Tecmo is conducting a fan art contest until 3 March 2021, and the winning entry will be featured in the final release.
