The next expansion to the ninth entry in the Dynasty Warriors franchise, Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires will have its release delayed. This unfortunate news came from a tweet by Koei Tecmo America.

In the first image posted in the tweet, the notice reads:
“Although DYNASTY WARRIORS 9 Empires was initially announced as an Early 2021 release, the team is still working hard on delivering the best game possible so we wanted to let our fans know the current situation and will announce the new launch window in future updates. We apologize for the delay and appreciate your continued support.”
Since its announcement back in TGS 2020, Koei Tecmo barely shared any additional news or updates on the expansion. While the company never pinpointed an exact reason for its delay, it may potentially be due to Dynasty Warriors 9 Mobile, which is also in development by the same team at Omega Force.
Like most of the previous Empires expansions in the mainline Dynasty Warriors games, this expansion will also have a greater focus on strategy. It also features an in-depth character creator for players to create their own generals.
Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Switch and PC. Check out the expansion on Koei Tecmo’s website.
