Atlus has just announced a new entry in its famed Shin Megami Tensei series of games with Dx2 Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation, a smartphone title.
First revealed in Famitsu, little is known about the game at the moment, other than the fact that it will be developed by Sega, while Atlus will be working on the script. It is an RPG with two opposing organisations known as the Acolytes and Liberators, where you, the protagonist, will be part of.
Unlike its spinoff Persona games, the Shin Megami Tensei series usually contains a far more serious tone, and is less accessible to the more casual audience. As such, it will be interesting to see how the developers adapt this for the smartphones. Persona would have been an easier series to bring over to mobile devices, but we will not count this out just yet, since some thought would most definitely have been put into this. Expect more details to come out as we head towards the Tokyo Game Show.
