Dunoo, the voice behind Lakad Matatag, passes away due to Covid-19

Aldrin Paulo Pangan, also known as ‘Dunoo’, ‘Kuya D’ and the voice behind ‘Lakad matatag’, passed away today from complications Covid-19.

Dunoo is a well-respected shoutcaster within the Filipino Dota 2 community. He is most famous for crying out and coining the iconic Dota 2 phrase, ‘Lakad matatag, normalin normalin’ together with fellow shoutcaster Marlon “Lon” Marcelo. The phrase was born when Dunoo and Lon commentated on the February 2018 ESL One Katowice third game between Fnatic and Team Secret in Tagalog.

So popular was the call, that Valve actually included it as a chat wheel in the game that players can unlock via the TI8 Battle Pass. Other than ‘Lakad matatag’, the chat wheel also included four other voice lines by Dunoo and Lon, such as ‘Easiest money of my life’ and ‘Echo Slamma Jamma’.

Dunoo and Lon’s voice lines further blew up in popularity when OG, who were frequently using the chat wheel in their TI8 matches, won the competition.

Dunoo’s passing is deeply felt amongst the Dota 2 esports community, with pro teams like Fnatic and Team Secret paying their final respects to the shoutcaster. Our own condolences to his friends, family and colleagues, affected by this tragedy.
