Publisher Capcom announced that its latest action RPG, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has hit a new milestone and has reached 3 million copies sold worldwide in 2 months.
The Dragon’s Dogma 2 team wrote on social media today, “Thank you to the 3 million Arisen who have embarked on adventures in Dragon’s Dogma 2! We are grateful for your continued support.”
Previously, Capcom announced that Dragon’s Dogma 2 had already sold 2.5 million copies in the first 11 days since its launch on March 22, 2024.
This new 3 million milestone puts Dragon’s Dogma 2 alongside the top 40 best-selling Capcom titles, which include Devil May Cry 4 and Resident Evil 6, just to name a few.
The original Dragon’s Dogma, which was released in 2012, is widely considered niche by fans and took many years to take off in sales. With the recent success of the sequel, Capcom is pleased and now places the Dragon’s Dogma series as a “key brand” in its full-year earnings forecast and its dividend forecast for the financial year ending March 31, 2024.
“In our core Digital Contents business, in addition to Street Fighter 6, the latest title in the Street Fighter series, being met with broad acclaim globally, Dragon’s Dogma 2 was released in the fourth quarter and has performed favorably,” said Capcom in its financial report.
Furthermore, as of March 31, 2024, the entire Dragon’s Dogma IP has sold more than 11 million copies globally.
