Capcom has announced that Dragon’s Dogma 2 has surpassed 2.5 million units in sales worldwide.
Not even two weeks after its release, the news was announced through a press release on Capcom’s Investor Relation page.
Adding to the sales figure of Dragon’s Dogma, the series as a whole has exceeded 10 million worldwide sales.
In the press release, Capcom promises to “remain firmly committed to satisfying the expectations of all stakeholders by leveraging its industry-leading game development capabilities in order to create highly entertaining gameplay experiences”.
Knowing that Dragon’s Dogma 2 was met with intense backlash upon its release mainly due to performance issues, the game still garnering such a large amount of sales within two weeks speaks volumes about the quality of the game.
Dragon’s Dogma 2, the latest addition to the Dragon’s Dogma series, was released on March 22nd, 2024 on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. 12 years after the release of the first Dragon’s Dogma.
The series consists of action games in a fantasy setting where players adventure in an expansive open world of swords and magic, with additional gameplay features such as a ‘pawn’ adventure companion who can carry out actions on their own.
In the weeks leading up to its release, Capcom has carried out various promotional activities, such as releasing a free character creation system prior to the game’s release, as well as collaborating with celebrities in various countries to create in-game pawns.
