Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai – Spirit Bonds – (quite the mouthful, Square Enix!) was announced in March 2020, and well, it sure looks reminiscent of an endless runner if only because of the long lane. There is no fixed release date besides some time in 2021.
Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai – Spirit Bonds – will feature an original story with the characters of the titular Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai. You, as the player, will be part of this story as your original character with whom you’ll be able to customize. You’ll also be able to swap your character’s class as and when you need to.
You’ll be able to play with at least up to two other players, racing down in real time, which should be how the multiplayer raids work. It’s pretty interesting since RPGs tend to be played on a horizontal screen, with this one looking to be exclusively vertical, making it easy for one-handed play. The lane looks like it’s essentially split into three sections that you move around.
We probably won’t be getting new information for a while yet considering its release date. With any luck, it should get a relatively quick localization like how Dragon Quest Tact did.
